Elmore Oil Creating Olympians
Former Future Champions program recipient becomes Australia's youngest ever Olympian. The Elmore Oil Company conducts a scholarship program for young Australian Athletes in conjunction with the Smith Family, known as The Future Champions Program. Each year The Elmore Oil Company provides cash scholarships to individuals who are shown to have a strong desire and a need to progress in their chosen sport. Britteny Cox is one of those recipients of funds from the Future Champions Program and has now gone on to make the Olympics at just 15 years of age. She joins Australian Track & Field Olympian, Jole Milburn, as the 2nd recipient of funds from the program to go on and become an Olympian.
A STAR may not have been born when 15-year-old Britteny Cox plunged down the moguls course at Cypress Mountain to become Australia's youngest winter Olympic competitor in 50 years, but she is definitely a star in the making. Wearing kneebands decorated with the Australian flag, the schoolgirl showed the poise of a skier a decade older. She ignored the high hoopla of the Olympic event and put together a seamless performance, to prove that she belongs in the ultimate arena. The youngest competitor in the field, she was not overawed by the occasion or the company of the world's best moguls specialists, finishing 23rd (19.87 points) in a field of 27. US skier Hannah Kearney, 24, won the gold medal (26.63) from Canadian favourite Jennifer Heil (25.69). Cox later declared that this was just the beginning of what Australian Olympic officials believe will be a glittering career. "I did everything that I had visualised," Cox said. "I have learned that the Olympic course is just like every other competition. There's just more crowd and music and lights." Australia head moguls coach Steve Desovich, who guides Olympic champion Dale Begg-Smith, said his team was "very enamoured" of the young skier. "She did very well. That was the best she could do tonight," Desovich said. "In typical Brit fashion, she puts down consistent run after run after run. She will have to learn how to pick up speed and jump bigger, but there's no reason why she can't be a top competitor. "Something like this is a life-changing experience. This will inspire her and make her even more committed for the future. She's so smart and committed and she will work as hard as she needs to." Canada's freestyle skiing supremo and former Australia aerials coach Peter Judge has compared Cox to Begg-Smith at the same age. "You can tell the difference between people who have an artistic touch and people who have a mechanical touch," Judge said. "The great ones like Dale and Jean-Luc Brassard (the 1994 gold medallist) have that artistic touch -- and I can see it in Britteny as well. It's very rare."

Elmore Oil Sponsors World Title Fight Defense in Digos City.
Balweg Bangoyan, the Filipino fighter that some people are calling the next Manny Pacquiao, was to defend his WBC international super bantam weight (junior) title on March 2 at Don Mariano Track & Field Open Arena in Digos City in front of an anticipated crowd of around 50,000 people, however the fight has now been changed to an exhibiton match as Bangoyan has been offered a shot at the World Super Bantam Weight crown in a match up against current world title holder, Toshiaki Nishioka of Japan, in April.
Bangoyen boasts a 15-0 record with a 47% KO percentage. After he turned pro in 2006 Bangoyan has enjoyed an impressive career with the only blemish coming when his title was stripped from him for failing to defend it in the prescribed time.
But Bangoyan made amends when he outpointed Raymond “Foreman” Sermosa in Manila last year to regain the crown that he believed was rightfully his. At just 23 years of age Bangoyan is a promising talent with boxing commentators and scribes from around the world touting him as the next Manny Pacquiao. With a handsome clean cut profile and a cheeky grin, Bangoyan is a favourite with the female fans and has amassed a large supporter base in his short career. He is currently training at the Tiger City Gym in Manila under the watchful eye of his trainer Frederick Wangkay. Balweg “Davo Hitman” Bangoyan will have to face up to the tough 23 year old Korean fighter, Jong Wong Jong to retain his title belt, but is quietly confident of a strong performance. Bangoyan's early fame and strong performances have attracted the eye of the Elmore Oil Company, who haved stepped in to sponsor the young Filipino fighter and perhaps secure his endorsement for their charity work in the Philippines. The company has a strong community spirit and currently runs a charity for street children in Ozamiz City with the support of the cities Mayor, Reynaldo Parojinog. The company's managing director, Mark Linford, believes Balweg Banyogan is a perfect fit for his company. “This young boxer seems to be a fine ambassador for his country and a great role model for the young people of The Philippines. This is exactly the type of person we like to support and assist in any way we can to progress their career. We will help Balweg progress and support him whenever we can because he is a good role model for kids and a future champion of the Philippine people.” The fight on March 2nd will coincide with the birthday of Davao del sur Vice Governor Simplico “Fely” Latasa who has declared that as a gift to her local people the entry to the fight shall be free. Latasa described Bangoyan as “one of the brightest Filipino prospects in years to hold a world championship” and a future champion of the people.
